With the launch date of Exchanging Mirrors just a few weeks away (!!) We wanted to take a little time to explain the thought process behind the writing and release of this new resource. Exchanging Mirrors is completely different from our first book, which was geared specifically toward mothers of newborns. In contrast, this book is written to women generically, encouraging each to consider her own identity through the reflection of the Gospel.
How does the mirror of the Gospel impact a woman? To answer this question, we begin by exploring how the Gospel changed the Apostle Peter’s life (the writer of 1 Peter). We see how his fundamental character was completely impacted by knowing the Lord Jesus Christ. We also see how the Gospel reliably changes all believers so that they better reflect Jesus, also. This is the only logical place to start, as the Gospel is the plumb line of truth, and from this perspective only can we evaluate false teaching.
The mirror of empowerment has gained widespread popularity, with many teachers encouraging its ideology. While it is definitely appealing and can even sound quasi-Biblical, the perception of the world that this mirror gives is skewed and dangerous.
So how do we understand what’s true? We must look at all claims through the lens of Scripture. This is our only focal point that is completely accurate and true. When the reflections we see do not align with that of the Gospel it is time to exchange mirrors.
We at EquippedMama are really excited about the release of this book. We believe that the message is poignant and needed in our culture. We hope that you think so too, and check it out on launch day! (August 3rd!)
Thanks again for your interest in this ministry!
